Bird Sightings from Brier

Posted by Eric Mills on NatureNS

Four juv. Baird's Sandpipers were here through Aug. 27 - after that, 2 new ones today, an adult and a juv.

First Buff-breasted Sandpiper on Fri. the 28th; didn't stay. Two more today, with Baird's.

An ad. Little Blue Heron arrived in Pond Cove sometime between 1 and 5pm today.

Had a report of a Prothonotary Warbler in Westport this morning.

The juv. Yellow-crowned Night Heron was last seen on Thursday the 27th.
Still PILES of shearwaters easily visible from the island, but storm-petrels and fulmars have virtually disappeared.

A nice movement of swallows during the last 24 hrs.

The only raptors on the move are Peregrines.
